The release of After Effects 25.0 has taken place
The main changes in After Effects 25.0 focus on interface design and performance. Adobe describes the new UI design as "more modern" and better aligned with other Adobe software, featuring "cleaner fonts and typography for improved readability." In line with Adobe's current interface design guidelines, Spectrum 2, users can now switch between different UI themes. Some of these themes are intended to enhance visibility under various lighting conditions, and a high-contrast mode is available for users with visual impairments. The update also improves hardware acceleration on Windows, making the interface "significantly faster," though Adobe does not specify exact performance gains.
The 3D toolset updates in After Effects 25.0 continue, though this time the changes focus primarily on interface design. The update "simplifies" the process of importing 3D models, now displaying only the main model file in the Project panel at the root level, without support for texture files.
The typographic toolset has also been updated, allowing users to use expressions for controlling text styling, not just for individual characters but for entire text layers. Additionally, new attributes for paragraph styling have been introduced, providing more control over text direction, alignment, first-line indentation, and margins.
After Effects 25.0 is available for Windows 10 and later and macOS 12.0 and later, but only on a subscription basis. The subscription for a single After Effects app costs $34.49 per month or $263.88 per year.
