Wacom has introduced the new mobile pen display, Movink

Soft

Movink opens up a new market for Wacom products. The device is designed for professional CG artists who need to work on the go. According to user research conducted by the company, 20% of CG professionals currently have to carry pen displays with them while traveling. This includes freelancers who need to bring pen displays when visiting clients and studios that want to use pen displays on set. While current high-end Wacom displays, such as the Cintiq Pro lineup, weigh between 2.7-7.2 kg, requiring special efforts for travel, Movink weighs just 420 g and is only 4 mm thick at its thinnest point - this is a whole new level.

Some features of Movink align with the current Cintiq Pros, while others are closer to the specifications of the entry-level Wacom One. Like the Wacom One 13 touch, Movink features a 13.3-inch display with HD resolution, but its brightness, contrast, and color gamut match those of the Cintiq Pros. Instead of the Wacom One pen, the package includes the Wacom Pro Pen 3 with 8192 levels of pressure sensitivity and new customization capabilities: users can adjust the pen's weight, nib size, grip type, and center of gravity using modular components.
Movink is also the first Wacom device with an OLED display, making it, alongside the new 16-inch pen display from Xencelabs, one of the first professional pen displays to use this technology. In addition to high color accuracy, vibrant colors, and deep blacks, Wacom claims the display has no lag and "physically no parallax." To minimize screen burn-in - a historical issue with OLED displays - Movink uses advanced technology from Samsung Display.

In addition to the Pro Pen 3, the only accessory included with Movink is a USB-C cable for connecting to other devices. This applies to both tablets and Chromebooks as well as workstations: like the Wacom One lineup, Movink supports Android and ChromeOS, as well as Windows and macOS. Linux systems are not officially supported, although the Wacom driver is included in many popular Linux distributions, including RHEL and Rocky Linux. A simple, "elegant" stand is available as an additional option, but since the display is not physically attached to it, Movink can be used with many existing stands.

As usual for Wacom, the price of Movink reflects the company's reputation for producing high-quality equipment and the brand's authority. At $749.95, it is almost twice the price of competing 13-inch pen displays, such as the Huion Kamvas Pro 13: a display with higher resolution, albeit with a standard IPS panel and no multitouch.

Wacom Movink is compatible with Windows 10 and above, macOS 12.0, Android 8.0 and above, and ChromeOS. Its price is $749.95.
