Substance 3D Modeler 1.11 FROM Adobe
Substance 3D Modeler is a tool based on SDF (Signed Distance Fields) that allows users to create models of organic and solid surfaces in virtual reality or desktop mode using a mouse and keyboard. The workflow combines elements of sculpting and boolean modeling: users can sculpt shapes from virtual clay and then combine or cut them using boolean operations.
In the stable release of Substance 3D Modeler 1.11, features from the public beta version have been made available, including the Outliner demonstrated earlier in the news. Like its counterparts in other 3D applications, it facilitates management of complex scenes by providing a unified panel in the user interface through which users can select, hide, group, or rename objects.
The export mode, a new user interface called Modeler for file export, has also transitioned into the stable release. It is based on export presets introduced in Substance 3D Modeler 1.5, allowing customization of export parameters such as file format, unit scale, polygon type, and whether the model is exported with UVs.
In Substance 3D Modeler 1.11.5, the current public beta version, both the Outliner and Export Mode have received experimental new features. The Outliner now supports drag-and-drop functionality for rearranging scene hierarchies. The Export Mode has introduced settings for topology and UV level of detail, allowing control over polygon density of the exported mesh and the UV space it occupies relative to lower-detail objects. The update also enables switching between Legacy, Smooth, and Shape detection algorithms when increasing asset resolution. The current beta version also includes new AI features and primitives introduced in previous updates that have not yet made it to the stable release.
Substance 3D Modeler 1.11 is compatible with Windows 10 and above, and with these VR headsets. It is available through the Substance 3D Collection subscription, priced at $49.99 per month or $549.88 annually. Perpetual licenses can be purchased via Steam for $149.99. The public beta version is accessible through the Creative Cloud desktop application for users with an Adobe ID.
