Substance 3D Designer 13.1 streamlines the workflow within the node graph, particularly when using frames to visually organize or add comments within the graph. Frames now automatically expand when nodes are moved into them, as shown above, with an option to snugly fit the frame around its content. Additionally, there's the ability to utilize HTML formatting for text in the frame description. Other general workflow improvements include fuzzy search support within the node menu, more convenient node placement when inserting from another graph, and automatic saving of 2D view settings.

"Additionally, Substance 3D Designer now supports exporting files in the AxF format - a neutral standard for material exchange between CAD and DCC tools, widely supported in visualization applications. While Designer has been able to import AxF files since 2017, this update allows exporting changes as a new layer within the AxF file rather than as a Substance .sbsar file.

Substance 3D Designer 13.1 is available for Windows 10 and above, CentOS 7.0/Ubuntu 20.04 and above for Linux, and macOS 11.0 and above. Perpetual licenses are available via Steam and cost $149.99.

Substance 3D Designer is also available through a subscription to Adobe's Substance 3D. The Substance 3D Texturing subscription costs $19.99 per month or $219.88 per year, while the Substance 3D Collection subscription costs $49.99 per month or $549.88 per year.
