The release of Vantage 2.2

Soft

First released in 2020, Vantage is a hardware-accelerated ray tracing renderer designed for exploring large V-Ray scenes in a near real-time environment. Chaos offers using Vantage as an alternative to other real-time rendering solutions, particularly Unreal Engine. Instead of converting scenes created for offline rendering to be used in game engines, a process that previously took significant time despite tools like Datasmith, Vantage can work with original .vrscene files. While it doesn't support all V-Ray features – the list of supported features for each V-Ray host application can be found in the online documentation – it's envisioned as a close visual analogue.

The initial release of Vantage was focused on visualization. However, this year, Chaos introduced support for rendering deforming meshes, such as animated characters, and has started promoting Vantage for VFX work.
The release expands Vantage's support for Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) - NVIDIA's AI-based image reconstruction technology. DLSS 3.5 support was introduced in Vantage 2.1. The latest update includes support for rendering modes of 2.25x and 3x.
There are also updates for the program's built-in noise reduction tools, NVIDIA OptiX, and Intel OIDN. Additionally, a new firefly filter has been added, which can be applied to renders to reduce the time taken for the noise reduction process. For Autodesk users, Vantage 2.1 includes support for several key hair formats in 3ds Max and Maya, including XGen, Chaos' native V-Ray Fur, as well as plugins like Ornatrix and Hair Farm.

Among other changes, support for V-Ray Displacement and integrated GPU Intel Meteor Lake has been added. It's noted that support for discrete Intel Arc A series cards was added in the previous update.

Chaos Vantage is compatible with Windows 10 and above, as well as DXR-compatible graphics processors from AMD, Intel, or Nvidia. The software is available only through subscription. The subscription cost is $108.90 per month or $658.80 annually. The software is included in the free subscription for V-Ray Premium and Enterprise.
