D5 Render, initially released in 2021, is an increasingly powerful architectural rendering software with plug-in connectivity for various DCC and CAD tools, including 3ds Max, Blender, and Cinema 4D. Aside from rendering scenes directly from the linked DCC application, users can import models in FBX, Alembic, or SketchUp SKP formats, apply PBR materials, assign HDRI, lighting, and LUTs. Other features include object distribution and framing decoration tools, support for volumetric effects and particle-based effects, as well as trajectory-based animation tools for crowd characters or vehicles.
The program supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing based on DXR on modern NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel GPUs and is capable of rendering 16K frames, panoramas, and 4K resolution videos. The community version is free for commercial use and is fully functional, while the Pro commercial subscription unlocks advanced features and additional resources.

In addition to the mentioned features, D5 Render 2.6 introduces new tools based on artificial intelligence, including the AI Atmosphere Match feature. This tool automatically adjusts the scene's atmosphere to match the original image. It generates skies that correspond to the target image, either through the D5 Render Geo&Sky system or by selecting a ready-made HDRI, and it also generates corresponding weather effects. The update also includes support for generating AI textures: users can now upload a diffuse reflection map and obtain corresponding normal, roughness, and displacement maps in D5 Render.

The reflection and metalness maps will be supported in future versions. Another new tool is the AI Material Match, which automatically applies the D5 Render material template to imported 3D models, covering 'most commonly used material keywords and map types'.

Among other material-related features in D5 Render 2.6, there is a new material template called "Flowing Water" and a new transparency parameter in the Multimedia Transparency Material template. The latter, previously named Video, can be used to overlay video materials on objects such as TVs and monitors within the scene, and the new parameter simulates the appearance of real displays.
Additionally, a new UV Randomizer has been introduced to avoid visible repetitions in textures like water and grass. The update also brings new light attenuation controls, the ability to adjust the position of the sun in Geo&Sky, and the capability to locally adjust render exposure as a post-effect.

Among other changes, there's a new walking mode that simulates human movement for navigating scenes, as well as the ability to view and edit camera motion paths in the video editor.
The update also includes support for materials in imported FBX files and additional control elements for playing back animations imported as Alembic ABC files.

Beyond the primary software updates, the asset library has received a new HDRI library and 169 new 3D characters, 92 of which are animated. New plant 3D models include six procedural vines, 18 low-poly trees, and eight cacti. Additionally, there are new particle assets, including mist and futuristic particle effects.
Users of 3ds Max receive an experimental new live-sync plugin, building upon the existing synchronization plugin. Both plugins for 3ds Max and Cinema 4D now support camera animation synchronization.

D5 Render 2.6 is available for Windows 10 and above. It requires a compatible GPU: Dimension 5 recommends Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or newer, AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT or newer, or Intel Arc A3.

Integration plugins are available for 3ds Max 2014-2016 and 2018 and above, ArchiCAD 21 and above, Blender 2.93 and above, Cinema 4D R20 and above, Revit 2018.3 and above, Rhino 6.1 and above, and SketchUp 2017 and above. The Community version is free, while a subscription to the Pro version, which includes extended features, access to the full asset library, and sequence rendering, costs $38 per month or $360 annually.
