Some of the main changes in Krita 5.2 include a new Wide Color Gamut color selector and a reworked text engine that supports wrapped text, vertical text, or text along paths.
Currently, the new text features are available only in the SVG code editor, but it's noted that in Krita 5.3, they will be implemented in the main "Text" tool. Other changes include updates to the "Fill" and "Outline Selection" tools, support for merging undo operations, and frame-by-frame sound synchronization during animation playback.
Krita 5.2 also brings the blending modes in line with Photoshop, adds support for CMYK, and improves image compression when exporting JPEG XL files. Krita 5.2 is available for Windows 8.1 and above, macOS 10.13 and above, and Linux. Krita for Android is currently in early access.
You have the option to download compiled binary files for free or support further development by purchasing Krita from the Windows Store, Steam, or the Epic Games store, all of which cost less than $15.
