Chaos has released Phoenix 5.2 for both 3ds Max and Maya

Soft

Phoenix 5.2 for 3ds Max and Maya has received a performance update, making the simulation "20% faster" compared to the Phoenix 5.1 release. Among the changes is the ability to run the PCG Fluidity method for smoke and fire simulation on the GPU instead of the CPU. Additionally, there are updates in the FLIP solver, cache generation, and particle preview.

In addition to that, a new Simulation Speed has been introduced to diagnose performance, indicating which stages of the simulation take the most time for computations.
Furthermore, there are several new features, including the ability to direct fluid simulation using the new Directed Velocity option in Liquid Source. The flow direction can also be controlled using a texture map.

For ocean simulation, there is now the option of vertically expanding the simulation grid. Notable changes for 3ds Max include the ability to move or pin the hotkeys layout anywhere in the interface, including the new floating main window. Additionally, a new Axis Constraint option has been added to lock the rotation of active bodies in simulations.
Maya users have gained support for the Isosurface render mode in TexUVW, allowing texture coordinates to be transferred across fluids, and improved support for interactive rendering using V-Ray CPU.

Phoenix 5.2 is available for 3ds Max 2018 and above on Windows 7-10 and Maya 2019 and above on Windows 7-10, RHEL/CentOS 7.2 Linux, and macOS 10.11 and above. It is only available through a subscription model. The subscription includes both the 3ds Max and Maya versions, with a cost of $70 per month or $390 per year.
