Marmoset has released Toolbag 4.06

Toolbag 4.06 is a simplified system for compositing, look development, and final rendering. Widely used by game artists, Toolbag is finding increasing applications in various industries. It enables swift visualization of imported models, adjustment of PBR materials and lighting. In the 2021 update, Toolbag 4.0, a new 3D texture painting system was added.
Users can either bake texture maps for export to other DCC software or game engines—Toolbag directly exports to Unity but not Unreal Engine—or render still frames or animations. The primary aim of the Toolbag 4.06 update is to expand support for the Universal Scene Description format (OpenUSD), following the introduction of USD import and export in Toolbag 4.05.

The changes include the ability to export selected geometry in the OpenUSD format, rather than the entire scene. Users can also export a broader range of Toolbag's custom object types to OpenUSD, including cameras, turntable objects, shadow catcher objects, fog objects, and background objects.
Furthermore, various material properties, including emission values, displacement, and transparency, can now be exported in the OpenUSD format. This ensures that PBR materials will display more consistently across Toolbag and other DCC applications and game engines, as depicted in the image below.

Other changes include the ability to export meshes with quads and n-gons to compatible file formats that support them. Additionally, a new option called "Weld Vertices" has been introduced to address topological issues in meshes. Furthermore, Toolbag now supports meshes and sub-meshes with multiple assigned materials.
A new feature is the ability to render videos in the EXR format, enabling the creation of sequences of HDR images. Numerous smaller changes have been made to the texturing, baking, rendering, and file exporting toolsets, including the resolution of several significant bugs.

In addition to the main application, the Toolbag asset library now includes a new type of preset called "Objects." This feature allows users to create and reuse preset setups for meshes and lighting. For example, users can create three-point lighting setups as presets, eliminating the need to recreate scenes from scratch.

Toolbag 4.06 is available for Windows 10 and macOS 10.15 and above. It is compatible with any graphics processor that supports Direct3D 12 on Windows and macOS GPU family 2. The cost of new licenses is now $319 for individual artists and $879 for studios. Subscription pricing is $15.99 per month for individuals and $43.99 per month for studios.
