Author’s comment:
This project was created as a personal challenge to level up my architectural modeling skills, handle massive geometry layout, and practice heavy scene optimization. The scene features a random real-world microdistrict in Khabarovsk — specifically focusing on three real-world high-rise towers.
To optimize the massive scene and keep the render workflow efficient, 100% of the surrounding residential buildings were modeled by hand. The heavy textures on the secondary blocks were completely skipped, texturing only the windows and frames to maintain accurate reflections in the glass while drastically reducing memory load.
The entire scene was modeled in 3ds Max from scratch using purely Google Street View and Yandex Maps photo references. Restoring accurate building proportions based only on photo panoramas was a challenging and time-consuming process, but the towers were successfully finished and placed onto the environment plane.
