Author’s comment:
The bridge over the Syrdarya River in Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan.
The bridge embodies the image of a branch of the jud tree
(jide tal, pshat tree)
, the most common tree along the
the Syrdarya River. Its shape conveys
the smoothness and elegance of thin branches with
elongated leaves.
The tree symbolizing the river
reflects the strength of its branches —
the abundance of resources, prosperity and symbolism
of life around the river.
The center of the bridge is highlighted by an observation
deck decorated with structures
resembling the Kazakh national
headdress, similar to the one that
Korkyt ata (poet, creator of the muses. kobyz instrument, originally from Kyzylorda).
The central structure carries more
one symbolic meaning —
a paper boat that evokes
associations with childhood and travel
