Hello! I hope you enjoy it! This is gold-inlaid Colt 1849 Pocket Revolver and it exists in real. Here you can check it's history and see references: https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/788188
I created this work to test my texturing abilities.
All of my previous works were created using SubD but this time I introduced ZBrush to my workflow.
The main challenge was to recreate the pattern accurately since original images was in poor quality and there was no opportunity to extract information using different filters. Everything is hand-drawn except the cylinder. For cylinder I improved one very poor image with the help of AI and slightly modified it in Photoshop. This model of the revolver is so old that it was impossible to find the real blueprints. I had to modify the proportions a little to connect all the elements and preserve their functionality.
Fun fact: one of the brothers of this revolver is stored in Hermitage museum, Saint-Petersburg. Sadly, I didn't have a chance to get there and look at it before I started my work.
Thank you for your attention!
