Magic Bullet is Maxon's color correction tool for compositing and editing programs, and it has received an update that streamlines color work. The update also adds support for Unreal Engine 5.3, the latest version of real-time rendering, with the Movie Render Queue rendering queue now being supported natively rather than through a plugin.

Except for Form, all Trapcode tools—plugins for motion graphics and VFX from Maxon for After Effects—have received updates in the Asset Browser. Now, users can search for assets using keywords and explore cloud assets provided through regular Capsules releases from Maxon, as well as assets on their local machine. The Particle Tool Particular has received new sprite sets for pixel art and emojis, as well as optimization for the Multi-Frame Rendering system in After Effects, enhancing playback and rendering speed.

Universe, Maxon's online library of effects and transitions for editing and compositing programs, has introduced a new plugin called Bokeh and a Bokeh transition. Both plugins simulate the Bokeh lens blur effect, offering control over Bokeh shape, focus area, and focus distance, along with support for custom blur and depth maps. Maxon has also implemented a new high-performance framework for Universe plugins, currently utilized by the new Bokeh plugin and the existing uni.Blur plugin. Both the Bokeh tools and the foundational framework are not yet available for Apple and Avid programs, only for other Universe applications.

VFX, Maxon's plugins for After Effects designed for common visual effects tasks such as color grading, camera tracking, defect removal, and compositing, have received a new update - Real Lens Flares. The new Obscuration system accurately simulates the distortion of flares when a light source passes behind foreground objects. Users can reference brightness, alpha, or RGB values from the layer to create obscuring elements.

A new primary projection type, Light Ball, has been introduced, providing a physical representation of the light source. Possible use cases include the sun, street lamps, and car headlights. Additionally, position falloff graphics, previously available only for the Ring primary projection, have been added to most other primary projections.

The Spot Clone Tracker tool for blemish removal now includes a Shape Roundness controller for tracking shapes and a new Tracker Only mode that hides all parameters unrelated to tracking in the interface.

The Red Giant 2024.1 plugins are available for Windows 10 and above, macOS 11.0 and above, and are compatible with After Effects 2023 and later. Some products are compatible with other host applications, including DaVinci Resolve. All products are available for rental only and can be subscribed to through the Red Giant subscription, priced at $79 per month or $599 per year, or through the Maxon One subscription, priced at $149 per month or $1199 per year. Individual Universe subscriptions cost $30 per month or $199 per year.
