AMD Radeon VII 16GB | Official release

278100

AMD has officially released the new gaming graphics card Radeon VII. Radeon VII is based on the second-generation Vega architecture (Vega 2, V2, VII, 7 ...) and is the first video card with 7 nm GPU (VII, 7, ...). The Vega 20 graphics processor has 3840 shader cores, 64 ROPs and 240 TMUs. Compared to Vega 1, this new graphics processor is based on the TSMC 7-nm process technology with improvements in scientific computing and machine learning.

With 16 GB of HBM2 memory, the Radeon VII is about 30% faster than the previous Radeon Vega 64 without being inferior in power to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080. But some user reviews say that the RTX 2080 is actually 14% faster than the Radeon VII.

Junction Temperature

AMD placed 64 temperature sensors on the die of the graphics processor. The highest reading of these sensors is called the junction temperature. The hottest point on the GPU is used to properly clock the GPU. AMD recommends using a new API to read the temperature of the graphics processor. Utilities such as GPU-Z or GPU Caps Viewer are likely to report incorrect GPU temperature values. The card is equipped with 3 medium sized coolers with a diameter of 75 mm each.
