Author’s comment:
A procedural study of energy transfer and particle emission within a crystal lattice. This project focuses on dynamic attribute manipulation and modern rendering pipelines in SideFX Houdini.
Technical Breakdown:
Procedural Animation (SOPs): The energy wave and lattice vibration are entirely driven by VEX. Color attributes (@Cd) are calculated procedurally to visualize the current density passing through the structure.
Simulation: Particle emission (electrons) is dynamically triggered by the wave's intersection with the lattice using a POP Network.
LookDev & Shading (LOPs/Solaris): Scene assembly and LookDev were done in Solaris. Materials were built using MaterialX, reading the displayColor primvar to drive the emission channels of the atoms and particles.
Lighting & Render: Lit with a dramatic rim-light setup to emphasize the contrast between the dark, metallic lattice and the glowing energy wave. Rendered in Karma XPU.
