Author’s comment:
High above the ocean, Atlas built a home from the things the sea refused to keep.
Maps of forgotten waters, shipwrecked relics and fragments of worlds swallowed by the sea — all gathered into a refuge for the young heir of Atlantis, caught between his father’s legacy and his own desire for freedom.
He keeps a chronicle of the sea, recording its storms, shipwrecks, forgotten stories and ancient secrets. He studies the stars, traces the currents below, collects relics from sunken ships and preserves fragments of civilizations that disappeared beneath the waves. He refuses to become like Poseidon. But he cannot simply turn his back on what his father rules.
“If I turn away from my father, it does not mean I can turn away from those he is responsible for.
I can be better than you.
And to be better than you, I must carry the responsibility you never abandoned.”
The ocean becomes both his inheritance and his responsibility. It is his father’s domain, but also the world Atlas strives to understand and protect.
He could leave Poseidon.
But he cannot leave the sea.
Because the sea is not only his father.
It is his people, his history, his responsibility — and a part of who he is.
