Author’s comment:
Hi! Today I'd like to share a concept trailer for our project. It was conceived as a continuous shot, with no breaks between frames and a lively camera movement intended to enhance the sense of the character's personal testimony. The story of the world, as told by the narrator, is presented not as a series of scenes, but as a stream of memories flowing through the protagonist's mind.
Also, a key solution was the dynamic change of the environment, synchronized with the text. The backgrounds respond to the meaning of what is happening and reflect the narrator's inner state.
What did I want to convey in the video sequence?
The initial stage is a memory of a past world. For this, we chose bright, saturated natural colors and a clean lighting scheme. The use of soft lighting, depth of space, and natural forms creates a sense of harmony. At this stage, technology should work to create contrast—the viewer sees what exactly the narrator has lost.
As the chaos moves on, the visual language deliberately "breaks." The color palette becomes dusty, with browns and muted tones predominating. The battlefield scenes make virtually no use of light contrasts, reducing the readability of space. This is intended to emphasize the state of disorientation and disintegration, as the world loses its former structure.
Next come images of destruction—ruins and fire. Here, fire is used not only as a physical element but also as a visual symbol of irreversibility. Particles, smoke, and flame light are intended to create chaotic movement in the frame, contrasting it with the static nature of the opening scene.
The final stage depicts the aftermath of war. Spaces become colder, visually impoverished, and less saturated. A minimum of detail and a subdued color scheme create a sense of devastation.
The knight's final speech takes place in a hall, with troops arrayed behind him. Compositionally, the character remains in the foreground, while the armies fade into the depths of the frame. This scene should be built on a balance of static and latent tension. Technologically, it should emphasize the scale of the world.
Whether the concept was successfully conveyed or not is up to you to decide. I'd appreciate feedback and constructive criticism.
The project consists of one shot, completed in three weeks.
