In the early 90s, with the advent of inflation, kopecks began to be converted into tokens, and in the early 2000s, outdated AMT-69 payphones began to be replaced by more modern models with card payment. Then cellular communications began to actively develop, and payphones lost their significance. The AMT-69 model disappeared from city streets, and only a few examples became exhibits in museums.
