The 1905 building is located at the intersection of Komsomolskaya and Telman St. in Chernyakhovsk, Kaliningrad region. In 2011, the residential building was classified as a cultural heritage site. As of today, the building is in a shabby state. Reconstruction concept is the conversion into a 25-room hotel with retail on the ground floor. The developer is willing to preserve the original architectural appearance, therefore, great care has been taken to accurately recreate the building’s elements. Some of them have not survived to the present day or are partially destroyed. The roof, for example, was almost completely redone during Soviet era, and its original appearance can only be seen in old German photographs. Among other things, fences, carved wooden window frames, and facade decor were recreated. Even the name of the bakery has a historical reference – before the war, a bakery with the same name was actually located in the neighboring house. Although currently the project is only a concept, I’m very fond of it from the very beginning of the work.
