Author’s comment:
Did you know that in 2013 the Curiosity rover used the sample-analysis unit’s vibrations to "celebrate" its birthday and sing the song "Happy Birthday" to itself?
And the rover Opportunity worked on Mars for 15 years all alone and fell silent after a dust storm?
These brave robots are sent to planets, where mankind can not yet reach. And even after many years, it will be the Space rovers which will be the first to explore distant planets and galaxies and send information to us.
The "death" of the rover is ascertained by its silence, but this does not mean that it has broken. Perhaps it's just the communication system broke. And maybe these robots continue to fulfill their mission in complete silence.
In this work, I show the space rover on an unknown planet. Its communication systems are out of order. People believe that it is broken but it continues to explore an unfriendly planet. In such conditions it consciousness develops and he gains self-awareness. All alone, without feedback, but day after day, he continues to collect information about the world in the hope that whenever it is received by people and his mission will be completed.
When creating, I was inspired by the masterpiece of animation in my opinion - WALL-E, which is obvious from the design of the space rover and call him (or maybe he call so himself?) appropriately - Lone-LY.
