One of the main new features in Photoshop 26.6 is the update to the Object Selection tool. Now, when hovering the cursor over a person in the frame, the program automatically recognizes and allows selection of individual elements — eyes, mouth, teeth, facial skin, hair including eyebrows and beard, as well as separate clothing items. These details can be edited independently from the rest of the image, for example, quickly changing the color of the eyes or a shirt. The new mode is available via the Select People button on the options bar.

The generative tool Generate Image, powered by Adobe Firefly, has also been updated. Now, a reference image can be added to the text description to specify the composition, pose, or structure of the new image. This makes image generation more flexible and precise.
New features for quick color correction have also appeared. The Adjust Colors tool, available through the context task panel, allows editing the hue, saturation, and brightness of six automatically detected Photoshop key colors or selecting the desired color manually with the eyedropper. The properties panel for Hue/Saturation layers has also received an updated interface with larger sliders and previews.

Additionally, cloud processing is now available for the Select Subject and Remove Background tools, providing higher accuracy and speed.

The beta version of the program features a redesigned Actions panel. It now not only allows recording custom macros but also offers up to five preset editing sequences with the ability to preview them directly on the canvas. A search function for actions using regular text queries is also available.

Photoshop 26.6 (also referred to as the April release or Photoshop 2025.5) is available on Windows 10 and above and macOS 12.0 and above. The software is subscription-based: the Photography Plan costs $239.88 per year, while an individual Photoshop subscription is $34.49 per month or $263.88 per year.
