After Effects 24.4 release has arrived

In the stable release of After Effects 24.4, some of the improvements introduced in the public beta version last month are now available. Among them is the ability to copy and paste keyframes between multiple layers, which was previously only possible with third-party scripts. To do this, users select keyframe groups with the marquee tool, then choose a point on the timeline where they need to be pasted, with the option to paste in reverse order for creating loops. Additionally, new keyboard shortcuts have been added to switch between in and out points in the composition. When selecting the color for keyframes, layers, and markers, color swatches along with the color name are now displayed.

Performance of the Roto Brush tool has also been improved. This semi-automatic rotoscoping tool generates matte coverage by isolating foreground objects or characters from the background and then propagating this coverage to other frames in the captured footage. After Effects does not cache the output for frames it has already propagated, eliminating the need to recalculate each frame in the next stage of the workflow, thus streamlining the process.

After Effects 24.4 is available for Windows 10 and above, and macOS 12.0 and above, only on a subscription basis. The subscription cost for a single application subscription to After Effects is $34.49 per month or $263.88 per year. In the online documentation, the update is also referred to as the May 2024 release.
