The new feature in Substance 3D Sampler 4.4, "Text to Texture," enables the generation of textures from simple text prompts, including both photorealistic and stylized textures. Sampler automatically generates multiple texture variations, allowing users to edit the prompts. Textures can be added to projects as layers or to the user's Assets library. Sampler automatically attaches Adobe Content Credentials to assets created with Firefly, indicating in the metadata that they were generated using artificial intelligence.

Substance 3D Sampler 4.4 is available in beta version. Currently, Adobe has not announced the final release date. The current stable release, Substance 3D Sampler 4.3, is compatible with Windows 10 and above, CentOS 7.0 and above/Ubuntu 20.04 and above Linux, and macOS 11.0 and above.

The software is only sold through subscription; Adobe has discontinued perpetual licensing. Editions for Windows and macOS are available through the Adobe Substance 3D Texturing subscription for $19.99 per month or $219.88 per year, as well as through the Substance 3D Collection subscription for $49.99 per month or $549.88 per year. The Linux version is available through Creative Cloud for Teams for $1,079.88 per year.
