The generative AI features of Firefly are now integrated into Substance 3D tools

Thanks to these releases, Substance 3D Sampler and Stager have become the latest Adobe applications and the first from the Substance 3D collection to integrate generative artificial intelligence features from Firefly. The AI toolkit was launched last year as a standalone web application and has since been integrated into software, including Photoshop. The new feature in Substance 3D Sampler 4.4, "Text to Texture," allows for generating textures from simple text prompts, including both photorealistic and stylized textures.

Sampler automatically generates multiple texture variations, and users can iterate on them by editing the prompt. The generated images are always square and tileable.

This demonstration video showcases the use of Text to Texture to create a basic material texture, which the user then manually refines. Substance 3D Stager 3.0's "Generative Backdrop" feature generates background images from text prompts, which Stager can use for lighting 3D objects.

Substance 3D Sampler 4.4 and Substance 3D Stager 3.0 are available in beta. Existing users can download the beta versions through the Creative Cloud desktop application. Pricing for Firefly is credit-based, with fast generative credits available as part of Adobe Creative Cloud tool subscriptions or through separate subscriptions.
