V-Ray 6 for Maya Update 2 by Chaos

Soft

The new VRayMaterialX material in V-Ray 6 for Maya Update 2 allows importing and rendering materials in the .mtlx format, while the new export tool enables exporting native V-Ray materials to .mtlx. The update also provides initial support for LookdevX, a new set of tools for creating USD shading graphs, introduced in Maya 2024.

V-Ray materials are now represented in LookdevX as MaterialX nodes, and any changes made can be previewed in V-Ray IPR.
Update 2 also expands Chaos Scatter, which can now distribute light across surfaces just like geometry. Other changes include the ability to scatter both groups of objects and individual objects, as well as new "include" and "exclude" lists for more precise control over object placement.

Updates to other existing features include new rendering elements Direct Diffuse and Direct Specular in Shadow Select, cylindrical projection support in VRayDecal, and support for chromatic aberration as a post effect in V-Ray Frame Buffer. V-Ray GPU now supports the replication system of V-Ray Enmesh geometry.

V-Ray 6 Update 2 for Maya is compatible with Maya 2020 and above, running on 64-bit Windows 8.1 and above, RHEL and CentOS 7.3 and Linux, and macOS 10.13 and above.

Detailed system requirements can be found here. The software is available by subscription only. The subscription cost for V-Ray Solo with node-locked is $466.80 USD per year, while the floating subscription cost for V-Ray Premium is $694.80 USD per year.
