Silo 2024.0 by Nevercenter

Soft

Initially introduced in 2003, Silo has earned a reputation as an efficient and purposeful package for modeling. The software features an optimized set of tools for polygonal and subdivision surface modeling, a topological brush for drawing new topology over a base object, and interactive real-time UV unwrapping. Beyond creating low-polygon objects for games and real-time applications, it can be used for basic model preparation for sculpting in ZBrush and supports Pixologic's GoZ bridge system.

Despite a slowdown in the company's development in the 2010s, momentum picked up again with the release of Silo 2021, alongside the launch of Milo—an independent real-time rendering and VR viewer based on the Unreal Engine.

Since then, Nevercenter has been releasing relatively small yet regular updates for this software. In Silo 2024.0, a new feature called "File Instance" has been introduced. It's a file referencing system allowing the use of external files—both individual Silo files and 3D models in standard formats—as instances within the Silo project. When the external file is updated, the Silo model updates automatically.

Silo and Milo are available for Windows 10 and macOS 10.15 and above. Silo perpetual licenses have an MSRP of $159, which also includes Milo. Updates are free for those who purchased the software within the last year. The full list of new features in Silo 2024 and Milo 2023 is provided in Nevercenter's release notes.
