CD Projekt builds new office and expands staff
CD Projekt has shared their plans to open 250 new positions in their company. Financial Director Piotr Nielubowicz says that the company has acquired a plot of land on which about 3,000 meters of office space will be built.
"That's likely less than half the current seating of our company, so we will probably be able to provide 250 new jobs for CD Projekt Red and GOG," said Nielubowicz.
Apparently, these developers will work on Cyberpunk 2077 and other unannounced games.
According to Gamesindustry.biz, the company plans to expand, despite the fact that revenues and profits have dropped significantly: "The revenue for 2018 decreased from € 109.1 million per year to € 85 million, and profits fell from € 47.1 million to € 25.6 million." In addition, the studio has spent a lot of money on research and development: about € 56 million in 2018.
CD Projekt continues to receive most of its revenue from sales of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Last year, the game earned more than € 25 million. When the game first came out in 2015, 71% of sales were physical, but as of last year, digital sales have reached 80%.
While other giants of the industry, such as Electronic Arts, lay off hundreds of their employees, CD Projekt takes the most out of the market and creates favorable conditions for work and development.
