A practical prop set for survival, post-apocalyptic, or horror scenes.
Includes a bar of household soap, a brass bullet and sleeve with soot, a plaster wrapper with alpha perforation, and a bandage with 2 texture versions. Suitable for populating locations in game engines and building atmosphere in 3D scenes. All assets follow a full PBR pipeline.
The idea of making a set using the full pipeline didn't come immediately. At first I just wanted to model random props, but then I decided: if I'm learning, I should practice the entire path, from high-poly to final render, right from the start.
My main goal was to gather and apply my mostly theoretical PBR texturing skills in Substance Painter. I was curious to work with different materials. All texturing was done in SP, while I simultaneously reinforced my knowledge of baking, UVs, and texel density - which I consciously controlled across the whole set for the first time.
As a result, I completed this project, where I got to work with various textures and, in my opinion, took this skill to a new personal level.
Numbers: 1908 tris total across 4 assets, average texel density - 57 px/cm.
I tried to convey the story of the objects through dirt in the cavities, oil drips, rust, soot buildup, and paper yellowed by adhesive.
For me, this project became the turning point where scattered pieces of knowledge finally came together into one working plan of action. Of course, there is still a lot for me to learn and improve in my work.
What mistakes stand out? Does this look good for a first full pipeline project?
I would be grateful for constructive feedback!
