I created this piece for the mythofchristmas competition. The theme was Frau Perchta. In the folklore of southern Germany and Austria, Perchta wanders from house to house during Christmastide, testing people. She rewards the hardworking with a silver coin, but punishes the lazy mercilessly: ripping open their bellies and stuffing them with straw and stones. She can also kidnap naughty children and carry them off in her basket. Sometimes, you can buy her off with food. She is usually depicted as an old woman with a history of spinning, often wearing a headdress shaped like a bird's beak. Her appearance is often accompanied by the cries of geese.
The competition assignment called for a 3D model in the style of a collectible figurine with a stand. In this piece, I decided to practice adding detail to the sculpt. For painting and rendering, I tried forkflow polypaint and render in Zbrush for the first time, using passes and then composing in Photoshop.
