Mavka is a character in South Slavic demonology, an evil spirit, a mermaid. In many ways, she is close to the mermaid, the Carpathian "forest panochka" or the mountain female spirit. Appearance: Mavkas look like young virgins and children with loose green hair and pale skin. They walk around naked, sometimes wearing torn long shirts. Mavki leaves no shadows or reflections in the water.
