Author’s comment:
Noh theatre is a sub-species of Japanese dramatic theatre, originating in the late 14th century.
In my work, I created one of the most important attributes of this theatre - masks. Each one
each one carries its own unique emotion, outwardly, reflecting the inner world of the characters.
The Noh theatre masks in my collection are Tengu, Kitsune, and Hyottoko.
Tengu is a monster-yōkai, guardian of the mountains and forests, and often serves as a mentor in the art of war.
Kitsune is a wise fox-shifter who represents fertility and prosperity.
Hyottoko is a fire god who blows flames with his lips and symbolises a lover of revelry and fun.
