"Prince of Darkness" is not really a name, but a title given to the most powerful and influential sorcerers, demons and demonic beings throughout history. In the Middle Ages it was one of the most common titles awarded to high-ranking people. It was also part of their official community. Like most other titles and titles, the title originated in antiquity. Apparently, it came to us from Ancient Egypt, where it originally denoted a status - corresponding to the rank of a pharaoh. The word itself comes from the Akkadian "prince", "king", and before that from the Phoenician "hnum", which means "lord", or "master". A great number of immortals, demons, monsters, and dark creatures want the title "Prince of Darkness," because of which the struggle for the title does not end to this day.
