"Mercury" - 18-gun military brig of the Russian fleet. It was laid down in Sevastopol on January 28 (February 9), 1819 and launched on May 7 (19), 1820. In May 1829, during the Russian-Turkish war (1828-1829), the brig under the command of lieutenant commander Alexander Ivanovich Kazarsky won in an unequal battle with two Turkish battleships, which immortalized his name and for which he was awarded a stern George flag.
