The second part of the fan art project is dedicated to the study of rigging and animation. Since 3ds max is more familiar for me static interior renders were done in that program. Then the robot was rebuilt in Maya for rigging and animation. It was literally assembled, not transferred, since the structure of the model had to be adapted to the future rigging. Unfortunately, there is no way to transfer V-ray shadere from 3ds max to Maya. Hence the materials were baked into textures and the robot was reshaded in Maya.
When I modeled this giant machine, I already had rig in mind. Therefore, everything is spinning and moving right. There are almost no intersections. This is not a bunch of kitbash objects, but a working mechanism in which every detail has a purpose. The video presentation demonstrates the entire mobility of the robot.
