Koschei the Deathless is an archetypal male antagonist in Russian tales. The epithet “the Deathless” origins from the spell that prevents Koschei from being killed. More precisely, his ‘death’ is hidden inside an egg, which is in own turn nested inside various animals, and then put in a protective chest in a secret place. The concept reminds how Matryoshka works if you know this famous type of Russian nesting dolls. Unfortunately, the era of myths has gone. There are no more czar's daughters to kidnap and mythic heroes to fight. So, Koschei spends most of his time working as an office clerk in one of multiple community centres in the vast expanses of Russia. The time of calmness comes to its end when Koschei and a local chort (an anthropomorphic demon in Russian folk tradition) receive a health resort voucher from the public sector union. However, the holiday on the Kuril Islands appears to be busy and there is no time to rest. Koschei has to draw his sword once again to deal with a local malign spirit that has become addicted to harassing visitors of the union health resort centre in the area.
