JINNAI (from Jinnai. الجني) - a perfect spirit.
One of the most ancient peoples of the Universe. One of the first who was able to learn and curb magic. And also they are one of the few civilizations who, despite all the temptations of magic, the explosive development of technology and a huge number of wars and cataclysms, were able to save their home world from destruction.
Thanks to their high intelligence, innate ability for magic, and extraordinary diligence and discipline, genies easily master any school of magic and any technology they take up. Jinnai are immortal, they always and in everything strive for a balance of power, always stand for peace and are considered absolutely incorruptible.
Perhaps the only "minus" of their nationality is the fact that from birth the genies are almost completely absent: empathy, a sense of proportion and conscience. And no wonder, because having such natural power, it is difficult to keep your ego in check and develop in yourself humility and understanding of your neighbor.
However, the difficult and ancient history of their people taught the genies to develop subdued feelings in themselves and led their way of life to a unique way of life. Each jinnai in a certain period must pass an initiation called "test of conscience" and before passing it, such jinnai are called jinn (from Jinn. جن) - spirit.
A huge sacrifice of time and titanic efforts requires from the genie the opportunity to become a worthy representative of his people and be called a genie.
For the first hundred years of his life, a young genie is trained in the inner lands of his native world, these lands are also called the "Lands of the Genies", where he learns the basics of all schools of magic, studies Jailat (a traditional martial art of genies based on mental and physical self-defense) and prepares for " test of conscience."
Entrance to the lands of the jinn, due to security reasons, is restricted for outsiders and at the same time, the jinn are forbidden to leave them before their initiation into the jinnai.
The "Test of Conscience" itself consists in the fact that a genie who has finally completed training is sent alone to neighboring lands belonging to creatures that are not inclined to magic. Voluntarily, his will and freedom are “chained” to a certain object with the strongest sigil (most often, it is some kind of jewel or any vessel made of precious metal) and allegedly placed to guard any material treasures, to lure local inhabitants who are not tempted by magic and who have not known the spiritual values of the inhabitants.
In anticipation of the first, and later the next treasure seeker, the genie meditates, practices Jailat, engages in self-education, studies the history of various nations and reflects on the nature of good and evil. After the treasure seeker finds the genie, the well-known story with 3 wishes takes place, the task of the genie is to teach the seeker the highest good and help to gain enlightenment through the fulfillment of desires. Most often, the genie does not cope with his task and the unreasonable seeker desires some nonsense, not understanding what he really needs, as a result, the genie goes to another treasury to ponder the experience gained and wait for the next chance to pass the test. On average, genies pass this test for a period of 3,000 - 6,000 years, and during this time I acquire the very qualities of empathy and conscientiousness.
As a result of the successful passage of at least the 3rd wish, the enlightened seeker sincerely desires freedom for the genie (good for another to the detriment of himself - the highest good), the sigil is destroyed and our test subject, already in the status of a genie, returns with honor to his homeland.
Further, the free jinnai continues his way as a full member of his society.
After the opening of the first portals, the rulers of all the 7 sultanates of the genies, as well as many representatives of other races of the Universe, were at the founding of the Academy of Magic. It is a great honor for genies to study and serve in the ranks of the Academy, many of the wisest jinnai are members of the council of masters and it is not uncommon for one of them to be chosen as the Archmage.
Any genie is a priori a very powerful magician and a formidable opponent.
