Too lazy to do "making of" - just some images I quickly come up with during the process.
The point was to test some new tools, upgrade old approaches and speed up look-dev stages.
So briefly - Super simple forms, basically two cubes on wheels, utilizing boolean brushes from previous projects.
I just loaded them in blender KitOps addon and made some fast iterations with this stuff. Probably the fastest way to iterate ideas
and preserve the previously established visual language. It's a non-destructive approach, so you can move things around during iterations.
I throw this vehicle into the scene (which I made inside blender some time ago) and utilizing Eevee for realtime render.
This helped me a lot, because I can continue modeling stuff and see reaction of light and shadow during the process.
It actually can guide your decisions in a different way from grayscale-viewport-thinking and it definitely worth to try this approach next time!
Really nice thing I realized during this process - try to throw your thing into old scenes. They already have a lighting scenario and different objects around so you can see how vehicle/character fits the environment. Sometimes it's cool to place some assets nearby to check your level of details and how far you need to push further. You can build your own scene in Eevee in no time from photos, but its a topic for another talk ha ha. Thanks to my friend who said "upload it already!!"
