The Vitruvian Man is a drawing made by Leonardo da Vinci around 1490-1492, as an illustration for a book dedicated to the works of Vitruvius. It depicts the figure of a naked man in two superimposed positions: with his arms spread out to the sides, describing a circle and a square. The drawing and text are sometimes called the Canon of Proportions.
