Modified spacesuits with coolers from cryochambers and genetically reproduced animals, coupled with regenerative energy sources, helped to go beyond the red desert and establish contact with the surviving tribes of the “swamps”. Aggressive environments, mutated animals and other anomalies have affected the deep growth of the “ship-city” with underground hydroponic gardens. Food was exchanged for energy crystals and oil products produced by the swamps. The first animals of the caravans were giant monitor lizards tamed with the help of neural communication modules. Later they brought out the Rinners and Repulsers, adapting them so that they could feed on an aggressive red plant that flooded the desert, for which it got its name.
