Author’s comment:
The SPA CL39 or Fiat-SPA CL39 but also called Fiat-SPA C.L.F. 39 (where the acronym stands for Carro Leggero Fanteria) or even Autocarretta SPA to distinguish it from the Autocarretta OM, is a light truck produced in Italy by the Piemontese Automobili Company (SPA) and used by the Royal Army and Royal Air Force. It had a different conception compared to the mountain truck, with a less rustic attitude. He was easy-going and could reach a good speed. The SPA brand, which in 1932 absorbed the Scat share with the reference shareholder Fiat, was present on the market from 1906 to 1947, although in 1909 the original company was merged with F.L.A.G. (Fabbrica Ligure Automobili Genova) and in 1926, following financial difficulties, it was bought entirely by FIAT. Starting in 1929 in the Consortium Fiat the Spa ceased production of buses in 1940, while in 1947 it was put into liquidation and was definitively absorbed into Fiat.
