The proposed Tupolev Tu-156 AEW&C aircraft, a modernized variant of the Tu-126 “Moss” that featured new jet engines in place of the noisy turboprops, and a new radar with better detection and tracking capabilities. Never build as it was decided to use the Il-76 transport plane as the new platform for what would become the Beriev A-50.
