In pre-Christian times there were revered stones, springs, trees ...
And today the locals visit them on religious holidays, go in the procession of the cross, or simply call to collect water.
These objects are "embedded" in modern Orthodoxy.
In the Middle Ages in those places (Zavolzhsk) lived the Fino-Ugric tribes of the Merian.
