The release of Silo 2025 and Milo 2025

Soft

First released in 2003, Silo has earned a reputation as an efficient tool for dedicated 3D modeling. It features a streamlined set of tools for polygonal and subdivision surface modeling, a topology brush for drawing new topology over reference models, and real-time interactive UV unwrapping. In addition to creating low-poly assets for games or real-time applications, it can serve as a base modeling tool for sculpting in ZBrush, with support for the GoZ bridge system.
Although its development slowed during the 2010s, the release of Silo 2021 marked a resurgence in updates. At the same time, Nevercenter launched Milo, a new standalone real-time renderer and virtual reality viewer built on Unreal Engine.

A key change in **Milo 2025.0** is the direct support for **Silo** modifiers, which simplifies the process of viewing the results of procedural modeling operations. Instead of rendering modifiers directly, users can now save a zip file from **Silo** and reload it into **Milo**, which will automatically update the scene. This feature enhances workflow efficiency, particularly for users integrating both tools in their pipeline.

Silo 2025.0 introduces a new feature in the UV reconstruction tools: the option to use the current viewport projection. This allows users to generate UVs by projecting them from any of the orthogonal or perspective viewports, with the ability to apply them to the entire object or just selected faces. Previously, Silo could generate UVs using various other projection types and unwrap them using the LSCM (Least Squares Conformal Mapping) method.
Both Silo and Milo are available for Windows 10 and macOS 12.0 and later. The perpetual licenses for Silo are priced at $159, which includes Milo. Updates are free for anyone who has purchased the software within the past year.
