The studio that created trailers for Gears of War and Halo has shut down
After 24 years of operation, Scottish VFX studio Axis, founded in 2000, has closed. The studio worked on trailers for both games and TV series, creating cinematic trailers for games such as Dead Island 2, Gears 5, and Halo 5: Guardians.
It has been reported that the studio employed 162 people, and its closure was due to rising costs and recent losses of contracts with partners. The studio's management explored alternatives to closure but was unable to find a viable solution. "Axis Studio was one of the top choices for key production companies and created content for well-known franchises. It is very regrettable that the creative business in Scotland is closing its doors," stated a Scottish consulting agency.
It seems that this is far from the last VFX studio to close in the near future.
