Here is my latest personal project—a tactical retro-futuristic communication device. The main goal of this asset was to bridge the gap between high-fidelity CAD modeling and an optimized, production-ready GameDev pipeline.I focused heavily on realistic material wear, precise triangulation of complex shapes, and embedding storytelling elements—like the custom monochrome pixel-grid display and rugged, field-tested surface damage.
CAD-to-Polygon Workflow: Modeled the initial complex mechanical shapes and hard-surface housing inside SolidWorks, ensuring perfect industrial curves and seamless panel lines.
Retopology & Triangulation: Successfully exported and optimized the CAD geometry in Blender. Handled the non-trivial task of clean triangulation for a dense hard-surface mesh, preventing any shading artifacts or normal distortions while keeping it fully game-ready.
Advanced Texturing (PBR & Granje): Authored multi-layered smart materials inside Substance Painter. Implemented realistic procedural edge wear, surface scratches, grease leaks, and dirt buildup that accurately reflects real-world military equipment usage.
Custom Screen Shader & Masking: Developed a custom monochrome LCD matrix effect using a high-density procedural pixel grid mask. Balanced emission mapping to contrast the harsh matte plastic body with vibrant functional LED indicators.
