Hermes (ancient Greek: Ἑρμῆς), obsolete. Hermias, - in ancient Greek mythology, the god of trade and good fortune, cunning and theft, youth and eloquence. Patron of heralds, ambassadors, shepherds, travelers. Messenger of the gods and guide of the souls of the dead (hence the nickname Psychopomp - "guide of souls") to the underworld of Hades.
