Substance 3D Modeler is an SDF-based tool that enables the creation of both organic and hard-surface models in virtual reality or desktop mode using a mouse and keyboard. The workflow combines elements of sculpting and logical modeling, allowing users to shape forms from virtual clay and then merge or subtract them using Boolean operations.
Substance 3D Modeler 1.13 is a relatively minor update that includes improvements to usability, such as a new light interface theme, as shown in the image at the top of the news. Users can now also change the axis used for symmetry and repetition when duplicating objects. Some of the new features were first introduced in Substance 3D Modeler 1.12.5, the current public beta version, released last month. The beta version itself has not been updated recently.
Substance 3D Modeler 1.13 is compatible with Windows 10+ and various virtual reality headsets. It is available through the Substance 3D Collection subscription, which costs $49.99 per month or $549.88 per year. Perpetual licenses can be purchased via Steam for $149.99.
