New Google Play projects for indie developers

Google Play allows game developers of any size to attract a large enough audience, create successful companies and promote their projects. Google actively follows the indie community and invests in indie game developers around the world. Google Play shared alist of this year’s initiatives to support them.

Indie Games Showcase

For the constantly improving indie developers, Google Play has announced the international competition Indie Games Showcase. The winners will receive very useful prizes for their businesses:

  • A paid trip and accommodation to the final event in your region to showcase your game.
  • Promotion on the Google Play Store.
  • Promotion on Android and Google Play marketing channels.
  • Dedicated consultations with the Google Play team.
  • Google hardware.
  • And more.

The terms of participation:

Indie studios from Russia, as well as 19 more countries from Europe, South Korea and Japan can take part in the competition if all employees are over 18 years old. The team should consist of less than 30 people, and also have published a new game on Google Play after January 1, 2018. In addition, if developers are only planning to release a new game, they can also take part by sending a beta version to Google Play staff. Applications are accepted until May 6, 2019.


Indie Games Accelerator

Last year, Google launched their firstbgame accelerator for developers in Southeast Asia, India and Pakistan, whichbshowed excellent results. This year, Google Play is expanding it to the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. Indie Games Accelerator is a 6-month intensive start-up program for top games created by mentors from the gaming industry, as well as Google experts, offering a comprehensive curriculum covering all aspects of creating a great game and a successful company.

Mobile Developer Day at GDC

Google Play will hold an annual Developer Day at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco this Monday, March 18th. The team will hold lectures on tools and successful projects that will help build mobile gaming business. Professionals will explain how to create quality games, think through effective strategies for monetization and growth, as well as how to create, connect and work with Google. In addition, the company is preparing a series of its own events for indie developers, but so far has not revealed all their cards.

Academy for App Success

Looking for tips on how to use the various development tools on the Play console? Google provides free education through the Academy for App Success e-learning program. They even have a special game console for game developers to get started on Google Play.
