Adobe has introduced Photoshop 25.11
Among the new features in Photoshop 25.11 is the "Selection Brush" tool. It allows users to select parts of an image by combining brush strokes and lasso gestures, roughly outlining an area to create a selection. Brush hardness and opacity controls enable feathering of selection edges and painting areas with partial transparency, as shown above. Unlike other Photoshop selection tools, the selection is always displayed as a colored overlay rather than the traditional "marching ants" outline, making it easier to visualize. Adobe describes the new tool as a faster way to select parts of an image compared to the existing Quick Mask mode or the Brush tool in the Select and Mask workspace. The release notes also mention the Adjustment Brush Tool, designed for making adjustments such as hue and contrast directly on the image, although it's unclear what has changed since its introduction in Photoshop 25.9.
In addition, two new generative AI features introduced in the Photoshop betas earlier this year are moving to the stable release. The **Generate Image** text-to-image system creates images based on user text prompts. **Enhance Detail** is a new option within Photoshop's existing generative fill feature that increases detail when creating replaceable areas in an image. These features are based on Adobe's Firefly AI toolkit and utilize the new Image 3 AI model.
Among other changes in Photoshop 24.11 are the new capabilities to create bulleted and numbered lists in the **Text** tool. Users can also now flip images using the context toolbar, and adjust the color and width of strokes and fills for shapes.
Adobe has also updated Photoshop on the Web—the browser-based version of the program available with a Photoshop subscription. The main new feature in the July 2024 release is **Generate Image**. Additionally, the web version now includes three more features from the desktop edition: the **Shape** tool, **Object Selection** tool, and **Solid Color Fill Layers**.
Photoshop 25.11 is available for Windows 10 and later and macOS 11.0 and later. The software is offered only via subscription. The "Photography" plan, which includes access to both Photoshop and Lightroom, starts at $119.88 per year. The subscription for Photoshop as a single application costs $34.49 per month or $263.88 per year.
