Continuum 2024.5 has been released

The Continuum 2024.5 update adds two more AI-based tools: one for video retiming and another for facial recognition. BCC+ Retimer ML is an animatable retiming effect that creates smoother temporal distortions with fewer artifacts than those "traditionally associated with time-based effects." It serves as an alternative to the existing optical flow retiming effect in Continuum.

BCC+ Witness Protection ML automatically detects human faces in footage and allows users to conceal their identities using effects such as blur, mosaic, brightness/contrast adjustments, or tinting. Additionally, the BCC+ Denoise ML effect, introduced in Continuum 2024.0, has been updated with a new artificial intelligence model promising "twice the rendering performance."

Continuum 2024.5 has also introduced eight new effects, including the BCC+ Color Link color correction tool. With this tool, users can match colors across frames by linking color values from one clip to another, supporting full 32-bit floating point processing and over 20 blending modes. Among the other new effects are a new polar distortion, tools for spot removal, edge cleanup, and light wrapping for color control. In Particle Illusion, new capabilities include translation, scaling, or rotation of emitter paths, as well as the ability to replace new particle emitters while retaining animation positioning. Additionally, several workflows have been improved, including parameter search.

Since Continuum 2024.0, Boris FX has introduced separate pricing for Final Cut Pro users: the FCP version costs $295 for a perpetual license or $195 annually.
